1 – Double Minaret Mosque and Madrasa

In the inscription on the crown door; It is written that it was built in 1271 by Şemseddin Cüveyni, the vizier of the Ilkhanate. The madrasa, with its ornate crown door, is quite majestic and beautiful with its brick and tile-knitted minaret. Apart from its double minarets, which have survived to the present day, its other parts have undergone various restorations. The mosque, which is also one of the Seljuk masterpieces, draws attention with its two-storey and four-iwan structure. The mosque, which was also used as a madrasa, became one of the important centers where medical education was given in the period. As a hospital, many patients were cured, and the madrasah served like today’s medical faculties. The symbols of the sun and moon were engraved on the crown gate of the madrasah, which was built by Izzettin Keykavus I in 1218. With the burial of Izzettin Keykavus I, who died in 1220, the south side was turned into a tomb.

There are plants and geometric figures from the Seljuk period, especially at the Stone Gate. Sivas should be at the top of the list of places to visit.

2 – Divrigi Great Mosque Healing

Sivas Divrigi Great Mosque is such a place! I couldn’t put it at the end of my Sivas Places to Visit list. This work, which became famous all over the world with its prayer shadow, is known as the diamond of Anatolia. So that!  Divriği Ulucami, the masterpiece of Turkish-Islamic civilization, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is 180 km from Sivas . It was built in 1228 by the wife of Ahmet Shah, Melike Sultan, in the Mengücek principality during the Seljuk period.

Detailed Where is Sivas Divrigi Ulu Mosque and information about itCheck out my post too.

Divriği Ulu Mosque , which I can’t get enough of, was started in 1228 and finished in 1243. Its architect is Ahlatlı Hürrem Shah, known as Muhlisoğlu. While the great mosque was built by Ahmet Shah, the son of Süleyman Şah, the healing section was built by Melike Turan. Even Evliya Çelebi , when he saw it, wanted to say, “Tongues are barren, pencils are broken” , that is, he could not find words to praise and say that words are not enough to write.

An unprecedented masterpiece in stonework. So that! Although the engravings on them are similar to each other, each one is different. There are thousands of stone engravings that do not repeat themselves.

3 – Buruciye Madrasa

It was built in 1271 by Hibetullah Burucerdioğlu Muzafferoğlu during the reign of Gıyasettin Keyhüsrev III, one of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultans. It is among the top works of stone carving of the Seljuk period.Buruciye Madrasaused for science education. The madrasa, also known as the Cross of Mes-ud Madrasa, was restored in 2005. In the madrasa , astronomy, chemistry and physics lessons were given by Muzaffer Burucerdi , who came from near Iran . The madrasa, which has Seljuk architectural features, was built as two floors and four iwans. You can walk through the Medrese Çifti minaret mosque, which is located in the historical city square in the city center.

The Sivas Ulu Mosque , which was built in 1196 by Kutbettin Melikşah, the son of Kılıçarslan II, Sultan of the Anatolian Seljuk State , is still in use. It is one of the first mosques of Anatolia. So That! It is from the period when gubbe logic was not formed yet. It is thought to have been built between 1085 and 1178 during the period of the consultants. During the restoration work carried out in 1955, its epitaph was found. According to the inscription, it was built by Kul Ahi by Kızılarslan bin İbrahim in the period of Kubbettin Melikşah in 1196. During my visit to Sivas, I performed the Friday prayer here. It was quite impressive with its history and spirituality.

5 – Kale Mosque

Kale Mosque was built by Mahmut Pasha, one of the viziers of Murat the 3rd, in 1580 . There is a Charity stone made for the use of those in need at that time . Those in need of this charity stone, where wealth people left money , would receive these alms as much as they needed. It is very interesting that it is an Ottoman mosque and coexists with other Seljuk and Republican period mosques.
